11/10/2018 4 Comments Research Project: How happy am I?In order to prepare for my research project I took a quiz based on positive psychology principles to see how happy I am. I scored 60 out of 115 points. This would be equivalent to about 52%. This result does not surprise me. The pursuit of happiness site also provides information for how one can become happier. I feel like being about 52% happy, or more accurately happy about half of the time is pretty spot on for myself. I suffer from clinical depression and anxiety. I used to handle my mental illnesses much worse but I currently feel like I am really making headway with my conditions. I take medications which are not the answer for everyone but in my case they are defiantly helpful. However, I feel as though the medications only lower the volume on my depression and don't make it go away entirely. The other part is up to me. I have recently started a new therapy method called DBT which helps regulate emotions. I think that doing the three good things exercise was actually really helpful for feeling happier and I look forward to learning more about positive psychology I feel like it can be really helpful in my personal journey of self care.

Learning positive psychology has made a big difference for me as well. I think this subject can be as much a personal benefit as it can be used to help others.
